"In the Vineyard"

It was an usually mild winter in the the Finger Lakes, but a severe cold snap in late April, created a great deal of concern and damaged many vines. In early May, I drove a few miles down the road from our winery with Ian Barry, our winemaker at Villa Bellangelo, to visit Jeff Morris, owner of Glenora Farms. Jeff grows more than 128 acres of wine grapes, and supplies Villa Bellangelo with several varietals, including Muscat, Guwertztraminer, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Pinot Noir. Jeff drove us around his many vineyards as we examined how much damage the spring freeze caused, and discussed what he focuses on in his vineyards this time of year.
