A Sense of Place
In 2013, Villa Bellangelo launched an exciting effort to take wine aficionados passion for wine and education even deeper, by publishing the book, A Sense of Place, and in 2014, the Third Edition was published. In A Sense of Place, Christopher Missick provides readers with a brief history of the Finger Lakes wine region's development. Tracing the geological record to the Devonian age, chronicling the first cultivation of vines on Keuka Lake, and detailing the ravages of Prohibition, the reader is given an overview of how the industry progressed despite many headwinds.
Missick then details the history of Villa Bellangelo, and the historic lands the winery rests on today. Finally, a crash course in wine tasting is methodically explained in a way that will help readers document the wines they taste in the accompanying tasting journal.
