The site of Villa Bellangelo was once the location for the expansive farms of Dr. Byron Spence. Beginning in the 1860's, Dr. Spence planted countless acres of native and hybrid grape varietals that had traditionally thrived in the area. A small section of the original vineyards planted in 1866 remains on the property, though we currently do not produce any wine from these vineyards. We do hope to discover the potential these vines hold in 2012, and to craft a distinct estate native wine in a very small batch in the future.
Currently, we source grapes for our wines from three local growers: Jeff Morris of Glenora Farms, Marty Gibson of Gibson Farms, John and Sandy Tuller of Tuller Vineyards, and Sawmill Creek Vineyards.
